Spanky Christmas Book Reviews

Are you looking for some recommendations for sexy, spanky holiday reads? You are? Well, that’s an amazing stroke of luck because that’s exactly what this blog post is going to give you.

I have reviews of not one but three festive books for you from three terrific writers. Two of them are Krampus-themed because apparently 2020 is a very Krampus-y year.

Daddy Krampus by Kessily Lewel

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is the first book I’ve ready by Kessily Lewel which is surprising because I am an avid reader of her website ‘Musings of a Chaotic Mind’ in which she discusses all manner of BDSM lifestyle situations in a frank and entertaining way. It’s one of my favourite places on the internet.

So it’s no surprise that Kessily Lewel can write a damn fine BDSM novel. This book, the first of an ongoing series, takes us into the world of Krampus, the mythological embodiment of Christmas retribution. Centuries ago, Krampus took a decision to split himself into twelve separate entities in order to better manage the increasing workload brought about by the world’s escalating levels of naughtiness.

Krampus feeds on the sins of wrongdoers while also, helpfully, enabling them to see the error of their ways, through presumably untold amounts of pain and torture.

We get to see the nicer side of Krampus in this book though. He’s looking for a mate and so his target this December is pretty petty thief, Valerie. Her sins might not be big but a lifetime of magpie-like pilfering means that they are plentiful and Krampus intends to punish her for every single one of them.

He also intends (in Beauty and the Beast Stockholm Syndrome kind of way) for her to fall in love with him. I’m not going to spoil the ending for you (because, let’s face it, we all know how this is going to go) but suffice it to say there are a lot of bumps on the road to get there.

He was always going to capture her heart though, because deep down, the two things that Valerie needs most of all are a loving father figure and kinky spanky sex. Daddy Krampus is a gold medal champion at both those things.

Both this book and the next book in the series, Krampus, Sir are available on Amazon.

Nice by Vivian Murdoch

This book is a sackful of wickedly naughty festive fun.

What do you get if you combine a mythological manifestation of punishment with a tragic past, the seediest Santa you’ve ever met, shapeshifting reindeer and some kind of nefarious plot sabotaging the checked-twice Nice and Naughty list system?

Well, you get this book, obviously. Listing all those things would have been quite an odd thing for me to do otherwise.

Caitlin, a thoroughly nice woman, has ended up on the North Pole Naughty list which results in her being kidnapped by Krampus in order to atone for her sins and provide a convenient vessel for Krampus to slake his beastly urges.

Luckily, it turns out that she’s quite the kinky little thing, so while she might not deserve the whippings and torments meted out by her otherworldly abductor, she does rather enjoy them.

Krampus himself is something of a tragic hero. Shunned by the other jollier, more festive inhabitants of Christmastown, he leads a rather solitary life in which the highlight of his year is having a sexy young sinner to tie up and punish for a couple of weeks a year.

It’s not too much to ask, is it? Sadly, when he discovers that Caitlin shouldn’t have even been on his list in the first place, he takes it rather badly. Trying to set things right unleashes a whole sleigh-load of weird underhanded magic shenanigans that neither of our heroes were prepared for. Although it does give Caitlin and Krampus the opportunity to discover their true feelings for one another.

Annoyingly, this book finishes on a cliff-hanger, which means the reader doesn’t discover who’s dicking around with the list system by the end of the book. (My money’s on Rudolph, the shapeshifting weredeer.) We don’t have long to wait though. The second part of this festive two-parter, ‘Naughty’ will hit the virtual bookshelves on Christmas Eve.

I enjoyed every part of this book. The thoroughly wicked dungeon punishments were as hot as hell and everything that takes place in Santa’s Citadel in North Pole Proper had me gripped and unable to put the book down for a second.

I think Vivian Murdoch needs a fairly hefty disclaimer at the start given that there is no way that Father Christmas is actually a lusty, six-packed fratboy type. Something like “This is a work of fiction and does not reflect real life in Santa’s workshop” ought to do it.

The Master of Michaelmas Hall by Vanessa Brooks

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 5 out of 5.

I absolutely loved this story. Firstly because it’s because it’s one of the Christmassiest stories I have ever read. From the snow-covered setting to the brilliantly festive names of almost every character (who knew there were so many?), Vanessa Brooks fills this book with historically accurate depictions of Christmas celebrations in the eighteenth century. No Christmas tree here but we do get a Yule Log lit from the remains of last year’s and ready to burn for each of the twelve days of Christmas.

Secondly, the plot is gripping and emotionally involving. The heroine, Angele, is a wounded survivor of the French Revolution believed to be dead by her husband, Gabriel St Nicholas. Like many romance novels, part of the drama rests of a major character concealing something that really didn’t need to be concealed. Just talk to each other, people! In this case, the needless subterfuge was dealt with brilliantly, both in its reveal and in the way the characters move on once all the cards are on the table. I’m OK with fictional characters making stupid decisions if it’s acknowledged – by them and by the plot as a whole – that the decision was stupid.

Thirdly, well, there’s the sex and spanking. Which, as you would expect from a Vanessa Brooks’ book is absolutely scorching hot and wonderful to read. Our heroes are not new lovers, they are a married couple rekindling a love that they didn’t know they would have the chance to experience again. It’s an absolute joy to read.

“A dance once learned, never forgotten.”
